KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Saudi government on Tuesday announced sending emergency assistance for victims of natural disasters in Afghanistaninfo-icon.

A statement from the kingdom’s embassy in Kabul said the aid included food items worth one million American dollars and others.

The assistance will be distributed to the affected families in cooperation with the relevant Afghan authorities, the statement said.

The Saudi Charge de Affairs was quoted as saying that the aid would be provided to families who suffered due to heavy rains and snowfall in recent months.

He said the Saudi leadership, particularly King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, wished a peaceful and stable Afghanistan and the kingdom was ready to assist the Afghans in every manner to reach that goal.

Saudi Arabia has previously also assisted victims of natural calamities in Afghanistan and has pledged $200 million in aid to Afghanistan at the Brussels conference.
