Primary school for girls blown up in Ghazni capital

May 22, 2017 - 13:39

GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): A girls’ school was blown up by unidentified people in the capital of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Monday.

Educationinfo-icon Director Mohammad Abid Abid told Pajhwok Afghan News the Albiruni Primary School in Qarabaghi area was blown up on Sunday night.

The school operating in a rented house had been damaged in a similar attack in the past as well, he recalled, saying no one was hurt in the overnight incident but windowpanes and doors of the school were broken.

Alam Khan, a resident of the area, said they heard a heavy explosion at about 1am. “When we woke up in the morning, we found the school damaged. Those involved in the incident have committed a great injustice.”

Militants have not yet commented on the incident so far. The Talibaninfo-icon previously told Pajhwok that they do not create problems for schools.
