KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Saudi Arabia has provided four ambulances worth 10 million afghanis in assistance to the eastern Nangarhar’s public healthinfo-icon department, an official said on Wednesday.

The ambulances have standard equipment, with each costing more than two million afs, said Nangarhar public health director Dr. Najeebullah Kamawal.

Receiving the ambulances, Kamawal said they would be used during emergency incidents in the provincial capital city and districts. He said the Saudi assistance would resolve many issues.

Nangarhar governor’s spokesman, Mohammad Gulab Mangal, thanked the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) for its efforts at improving health facilities and Saudi Arabia for the help.

He suggested the public health department should be careful about the use and maintenance of the vehicles.

Provincial council head Ahmad Ali Hazrat asked MoPH to provide tens of more ambulances to Nangarhar keeping in view the large number of patients.

According to the provincial public health department, currently ambulances exist in all districts, including Jalalabad, with efforts ongoing to establish Nangarhar Ambulance Service like the Kabul Ambulance Service (KAS).

Earlier some other institutions have also aided the Nangarhar public health department with ambulances.
