Pakistani consulate workers go missing in Nangarhar

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Two officials of the Pakistani consulate have gone missing in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province.

The Foreign Office in Islamabad said the consulate workers had been missing for the last three days.

“The two men were traveling by road from Jalalabad to Pakistaninfo-icon when they disappeared before reaching the Torkham border,” the ministry said.

In Kabul, Pakistan Embassy Press Counselor Akhtar Munir confirmed the incident and said the issue had been shared with Afghan officials in Nangarhar and Kabul.

Afghan authorities have informed the Foreign Office that all possible efforts were being made to probe the incident.

Three distinct investigating groups have been constituted to ensure the safe recovery of the officials.

A statement the Nangarhar governor’s house said Afghan officials were jointly investigating the incident with Pakistani authorities and trying to recover the consulate staffers.
