Herat education officials captured by Taliban

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Two educationinfo-icon department officials have been captured by Talibaninfo-icon in the Pashtuninfo-icon Zarghoon district of western Herat province, an official said on Monday.

The district’s administrative chief, Nisar Ahmad Popal, told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban seized Basheer Ahmad, supervisor of the Teacher Training College (TTC), and a teacher named Nisar Ahmad.

The officials were captured last night when they were offering Traveeh at a mosqueinfo-icon in the area. “Ten fighters entered the mosque and took away the officials,” Popal said.

He added a search had been launched by police but so far it was not clear where the men had been taken.

However, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi rejected the claim and said they had not seized the education officials.
