Takhar police seize weapons from sergeant home

TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Police in northeastern Takhar province have confiscated several weapons and bullets from the house of a police sergeant, an official said on Monday.

Police spokesman Maj. Abdul Khalil Aseer told Pajhwok Afghan News police raided the house of Sergeant Baryalai after he clashed with and wounded another sergeant Mohammad Asif.

The two clashed on Sunday night inside the house of Baryalai, who is in-charge of police arms depot.

When police raided the house of Baryalai, they found 23 Kalashnikovs, two rockets, a machinegun, 16 pistols, four rifles, two pick up vehicles, one motorcycle, hundreds of rocket launchers and other ammunition.

“He was illegally keeping the weapons in his house,” Aseer said, adding Baryalai had been arrested.
